Halloween Participation

To particpate or not to participate in the Halloween events, now that is the question? There are many viewpoints on this topic.
So ....one friend gave out candy, but did not take her child out. A few neighbors kept their lights out to express non-participation. Pagan, idol worship or harmless dress-up? So, what do you do on Halloween night?

Not participate because if you are even involved a little bit with the pagan, idol worship, you are participating. For instance, If I tell a little white lie is that stretching the truth or a flat out lie. Sin is sin in God's eye and for me Halloween is a pagan holiday that some people worship and as the Lord has commanded us, There shall be no other Gods' before me, we shall worship the one and only true God. He is a jealous God. Besides, I can give my children candy anytime of the year, why would I want them to go out and dress up to be something that they are not, for the sake of fun. I don't think so. As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord!

In Matt 9:10 "While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples." I am reminded of Jesus' example of who so associate with. Halloween is also known as the Christian feast called All Hallow's Eve, which is/was the religious observances of praying, fasting and attending vigils or church services....Halloween is also thought to have been heavily influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saints' Day (also known as Hallowmas, All Hallows, and Hallowtide) and All Souls' Day. Falling on November 1 and 2 respectively, collectively they were a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed who had yet to reach heaven." (Wikipedia/Nov 9, 2011). In man's attempt to understand and apply TRUTH, things can become misconstrued or mismanaged. Good becoming bad or evil. In serving the Lord, Look for oppoprtunites to be lead by the Holy Spirit. Following God's plan requires listening before executing His plan. According to 2 Cor chapter 1, let's do as Paul and choose to follow God's leading. Thanks Kathy!
